I just got back from an interview to be the dean of a j-school. My pitch was pretty much yours: Teach entrepreneurial and digital skills; be different but keep the best of the old. I sensed the small (older) faculty didn't think newspapers were in trouble much; they couldn't imagine newspapers will ever go away. A couple of them had part-time gigs at local newspapers and they seemed complacent. No need to embarrass with too many details, but I wanted to pass along that some j-schools still don't get it.
